The Thimphu City Corporation as mandated by the Government is in the process of implementing the Thimphu Structure Plan (2004-2027) as approved by the government and towards that would like to inform the general public the following:

1. As per the Thimphu Structure Plan, the present Changzamtog workshop area is identified as UV-2 precinct which is predominantly residentical use and not for operating workshops.
2. Thimphu City Corporation has already formulated the strategies to relocate the present workshops to the proposed area at Ola Rong Chhu, in Simtokha and the proposed workshop facilities has to be completed by the end of November 2007.
3. For the same reasons the Thimphu City Corporation has neither recommended any new workshop licenses nor given any construction permission for Changzamtog Workshop area since 2003.
4. Lately it has come to the understanding of the Thimphu City Corporation that some of the land owners and lease holders are planning to invest considerably in setting up new workshop facilities at Changzamtog. The Thimphu City Corporation would like to inform those concerned land owners/lease hholders that this is not in keeping with the Thimphu Structure Plan approved by the Government and therefore should be strictly and immediately disconnected.
5. As per the implementation strategy formulated by the Thimphu City Corporation, all the workshops will be relocated.
6. Another such area, i.e. industrial land use is also identified in lower Pamtsho area under Jungshina local area plan, which will soon be finalized.
